Accompanied by an Extract from the Patek Philippe Archives confirming the date of manufacture of this wristwatch with diamond-set numerals as 1956 and its subsequent sale on August 22nd of the following year.

Patek Philippe commenced production of the reference 2551 in 1954, continuing through 1960 with more than 1,000 pieces of this model produced in total. According to our research, Patek Philippe appears to have made approximately only less than two dozen examples of this model in platinum with diamond numerals. It is interesting to note that during the years of its production, in 1958, this version of the reference 2551 retailed at a higher price than the famed reference 2499 in yellow gold.

According to our research, the present watch has never previously appeared before at auction and represents one of only two pieces of this type now known to the market.
