Lot Essay

Accompanied by an Extract from the Patek Philippe Archives confirming the date of manufacture as 1884 and its subsequent sale on April 30th of the following year.

Patek Philippe produced approximately only 250 to 300 minute repeating perpetual calendar chronograph pocket watches with approximately three dozen of these known to the market. The extreme rarity of the present piece comes from the five-minute repeating mechanism in combination with the other functions, perpetual calendar and chronograph. According to our research, the present watch is one of only three examples known to have appeared at auction with this combination of functions.
