Lot Essay

Accompanied by an Extract from the Patek Philippe Archives confirming the date of manufacture as 1939 and its subsequent sale on October 8th of the following year.

Patek Philippe commenced production of the reference 516 in 1939. Representing only the seventh example to have appeared at auction, the present watch is also the earliest example and most likely one of the first pieces of this reference ever to have been produced.

To the best of our knowledge, the present watch has never before appeared at auction.
