SOLD TO BENEFIT THE ALEXANDRA BALLET COMPANY
The Alexandra Ballet in St. Louis, Missouri was founded over fifty years ago by Alexandra Zaharias, a former student of George Balanchine. Since 1984, The Alexandra School of Ballet has trained hundreds of students who have gone onto such renowned dance companies as the American Ballet Theatre, the Alvin Ailey Dance, the Charleston Ballet, the New York City Ballet, and the San Francisco Ballet, among many others. As a non-profit organization, the Alexandra Ballet has brought the art of dance to students from diverse backgrounds and acts as a means to broaden and enrich their lives. The company stages two performances each spring at the Blanche M. Touhill Performing Arts Center with more than 3,000 children attending. Most recently, a program was established in 2005 where the students are able to go backstage during intermission and continue their education behind-the-scenes. The Alexandra Ballet fully succeeds in their goal of opening up the world of theater to every child, and in every possible way.
