FINE WINES FROM A MAGNIFICENT CELLAR
Once in a great while, I have the privilege of working with a cellar whose provenance is nothing short of perfection. Having had the pleasure of knowing the owner of this cellar for many years, I can attest to the integrity of not only the wines but the man. He has embraced his passion for wine with rare enthusiasm and meticulous care, second only to the devotion he has to his family, his faith and to the many charities he so generously supports. His cellar is a model of ideal provenance, with every single bottle in absolutely wonderful condition. And why not? All of his collecting life has been spent buying only the very best bottles and then aging them slowly in his impeccably cold, damp cellar until ready to either drink or donate to charity.
Having sampled many of the incredible wines in this cellar, regardless of age, I have never encountered a bad bottle, never. In fact, even when fragile old Burgundy or Bordeaux were opened, all after not having been touched since their purchase, they were irrefutably among the best I've ever sampled of their kind. Although what follows is a mere fraction of the owner's collection, just some bottles surplus to his current needs really, it goes without saying that we are nonetheless extremely honored to have been given the opportunity to present them to you.

STUNNING WHITE BURGUDY
Meursault, Perrières--Vintage 1973
Côte de Beaune, Maison Leroy
Levels: 2cm or better
"Still remarkably sound for even though 1973 was an excellent vintage in whites, it did not create especially long-lived wines. This however is still completely intact and while completely ready to drink, there are no signs of oxidation on the nicely complex nose or the medium weight, sweet and delicious flavors. Still, I would drink up sooner than later." BH, October 17, 2004
