Hermitage, Vin de Paille--Vintage 1994
Rhône, Chapoutier
"Chapoutier has produced a 1994 Hermitage Vin de Paille. Only about 1,000 bottles of this unfiltered wine were produced. Aged completely in new oak, it exhibits an amber color, a sweet butterscotch, peach, tea, and orange marmalade-scented nose, great structure, and amazing richness and length. Michel Chapoutier feels this wine, which tastes like ripe apricots, will last at least a century. Not many readers are in a position to argue with him. Last tasted 6/96." Robert Parker, Rhone Book (1997)
