Château Latour--Vintage 1962
Pauillac, 1er cru classé
Level: upper shoulder; stained label, ligtly corroded capsules
"... continues to be one of the great vintages for this château. A dense opaque garnet color reveals amber at the edge, as well as an incredible perfume of cedar wood, balsam, coffee, black fruits, leather, and cigar smoke. The wine is supple and full-bodied, with sweet tannin, glorious levels of fruit and extract, abundant glycerin, and a seductive, truffle-flavored finish. While it has been drinkable for two decades, it is capable of lasting another 20 years. It is a perfectly balanced, exciting Latour that remains undervalued as well as underrated." Robert Parker, Wine Advocate #129 (Jun 2000)
