Abbroa Bay is situated within Baia de Ilha Grande, just south of Rio de Janeiro. Although no records can be found of H.M.Troopship Apollo having sailed to Brazil, there are listings of her carrying the 59th Regiment of Foot in September 1793 to Ostend. In November of the same year Apollo was ordered to take troops to the West Indies but that order was countermanded before sailing. It is however quite possible that she was orderd again the following year to supply troops to the West Indies where the war against the French continued to be fought.
