"Though this map by Hondius is based is based on two earlier maps ... subsequent cartographers usually followed this work rather than the earlier maps. It thus became the most important type of map until the Ogilby-Moxon 'Description of Carolina' ca. 1672; and its influence, both direct and indirect, extends into the middle of the eighteenth century" (Cumming, pp.129-30).
