Lot Essay

See Marilyn G. Karmason and Joan B. Stacke, Majolica: A Complete History and Illustrated Survey, New York, 2002, p. 135 for four similar graduated pitchers that have been confirmed to be English, but their factories remain as yet unattributed. As the pose, surface treatment, coloration and paste of these jugs vary, they are likely from two different factories.
