The circular enamelled dial with Roman and Arabic chapters and day-of-the month calendar in a pierced rectangular case with foliate scrolls and surmounted by a youth emblematic of war, on a ribbon-tied reeded rim and a stepped base with sun-flower filled guilloche band and on bun feet, the movement signed 'Robin a Paris'

Lot Essay

Robert Robin, maître in 1767, was much appreciated by the various administators of the King's household and supplied numerous clocks to the court. He held numerous titles including Marchand-Horloger Privilégé du Roi, Valet de Chambre-Horloger Ordinaire de la Reine, Horloger de la République and Horloger du Directoire.
