MID 16TH CENTURY, THE MOUNTS LONDON, 1559, MAKER'S MARK SK IN A HEART, MARKED ON COVER AND NECK
The German stoneware jug with cylindrical neck, bulbous body and strap handle, with typical allover mottled brown glaze, fitted with a silver-gilt hinged cover, collar and footrim, the cover with radiating gadroons and six stiff leaf tips centering the knop finial, the thumbpiece as crossed flowers, the collar engraved with strapwork, the panels on either side of the handle inscribed 1560
