TWO PARIS GOLD-GROUND FOOTED COFFEE CUPS AND SAUCERS
EARLY 19TH CENTURY, THE FIRST PROBABLY SCHOELCHER, THE SECOND WITH IRON-RED DARTE FRERES MARK
The first moulded with a band of white 'pearls', the angular handle issuing from an anthemion terminal and with a roundel centering a flower-head, painted with a peasant boy playing a flute for an audience of farm animals, the gold ground chased with satyr masks and cupids above swags centering caduceuses, the saucer decorated en suite; the second with a simple scroll handle, painted with a gentleman playing the bagpipes for a seated mother and child, the gold-ground chased flowers within a rectangular surround, the saucer decorated en suite
