Circa 1814/15 - 1824, impressed script Sevres and Brachard f. along the truncation, the reverse incised Li for Jean-Charles Leguillier
In imitation of Wedgwood jasperware, the monarch in profile to left, truncated at the shoulders, the Start of the Order of Saint Esprit visible on his chest
3 3/8 in. (8.5 cm.) diameter, within glazed circular velvet-covered mount

Lot Essay

See Aileen Dawson, French Porcelain, A Catalogue of the British Museum Collection, London, 1994, pp. 203-204, cat. no. 169 for another example of this model with a variant incised mark on the reverse. Jean-Charles Leguillier whose incised mark appears on the reverse of the present plaquette was active at Sèvres as a repairer (repareur mouleur d'ovale) 1812-1848.
