Lot Essay

This Savonnerie panel is directly inspired by the painting entitled 'Vase de lapis, sphère et musette', executed by Henri-Horace Roland de Laporte for his admission to the Paris Académie in 1763.

An identical panel, now in the Musée des arts décoratifs, Lyon, is attributed to the Duvivier's in P. Verlet, The James A. de Rothschild Collection at Waddesdon Manor, The Savonnerie, London, 1982, p. 314, fig. 191.
