A LURISTAN BRONZE DOUBLE AXE HEAD
EARLY 1ST MILLENNIUM B.C.
The shaft decorated with a concentric circle on each side, with long cylindrical bronze handle, 15¼ in. (38.5 cm.) high; another bronze axe head the long shaft with recumbent figure of a lion and around the top four recumbent goats with curved horns, in between a raised band with scale-pattern decoration, corroded surface, 6 in. (15 cm.) long, 1st millennium B.C., both mounted; and two Elamite bronze axe heads, one with ovoid shaft hole at top with banded edges on top and bottom, a projecting protome at back of shaft imitating a bird beak, the other with undulating butt-plate, both late 2nd millennium B.C., 7 in. (18 cm.) long max. (4)
