A HELLENISTIC TERRACOTTA FIGURE OF EROS
CIRCA 3RD CENTURY B.C.
Winged and wearing Phrygian cap, drapery twisted around his waist, hands joined above inclined head, traces of pigment, one wing missing; and another Hellenistic terracotta figure of Eros as pugilist in lively pose, legs apart and arms out aping a wrestling posture, face grinning, with short cloak draped over left shoulder, traces of pigment, 3rd Century B.C., both repaired and mounted

French private collection, acquired in the 1930s; and thence by descent.
