A CORINTHIAN 'PLASTIC' POTTERY ARYBALLOS IN THE FORM OF A HARE
CIRCA 575-550 B.C.
The recumbent animal with legs folded underneath, head forming the spout, suspension hole below the long ears that extend along its back, now broken away at ends, the body with red painted spotted fur, with red zigzag on the underside, repaired with worn details, 3 in. (7.5 cm.) long; and a group of mainly classical antiquities including a Gnathia ware trefoil-lipped oinochoe, the neck decorated with grape vine, circa 4th Century B.C., 5 in. (12.5 cm.) high; a Roman pottery figure of a cockerel, 4¼ in. (10 cm.) high; a pottery figure of an owl-like bird, 3 in. (7.5 cm.) high, all repaired; a Roman pottery oil lamp, the tondo with a figure of a gladiator, circa 2nd Century A.D., 3 1/8 in. (8 cm.) long; and an Ur III cuneiform clay administrative tablet, circa 3rd millennium B.C., with later loop pendant, 1½ in. (4 cm.) high (8)
