Lot Essay

A jade pistol-grip dagger with very similar decoration was sold from the Berkeley Trust Collection at Sotheby's, London, 12 October 2004, lot 94. Both have the same raised gold which is then further enhanced with fine engraving. The flowers on the Berkeley Trust example were smaller, giving more of an overall design rather than the individual floral sprays seen here.
