After Nelson's death at the battle of Trafalgar on 21st October 1805, a large number of mourning jewels were produced which included commercially made composite cameos with different styles of profile based on the designs by James Tassie (1735-99). Cf. L. King, Nelson An Illustrated History, National Maritime Museum, 1995 p. 131 for a cameo with similar profile.
