Lot Essay

Truphème was born in Aix-en Provence in 1820 (d.1888) and produced a statue of Mirabeau for the town hall's square. His work was later reproduced in bronze by the Thiébaut foundry. See, P. Kjellberg, Les Bronzes du XIXe Siècle, Paris, 1989, p. 634.
