Jean-Baptiste Bosschaert received his earliest training at the hands of the flower painter J.-B. de Creper in Antwerp, later becoming the master of a studio in that city in 1703. He often painted the flowers and fruit into compositions by contemporary artists. In the past, his works have been erroneously attributed to a certain Nicolas Bosschaert, who did not exist.
