A pair of Japanese imari dishes, Johanneum marks N:158, 18th Century
with foliate rim, decorated in underglaze blue, iron-red and gilt with a basket of peony sprays to the central roundel, bordered by a panel of coupled birds, the rim with four ho-o birds before a mountain motif surrounded by flowering stems - 13in. (33cm) diam.
The Johanneum marks N:158, denote that these dishes were in the collection of Augustus The Strong, and housed in the Japanese palace in Dresden. (2)
