A Nishapur turquoise-glazed pottery bowl, North East Iran, 12th Century
of deep rounded form, the exterior moulded under the opaque turquoise glaze with panels of scrolling vine each around the single word 'al-izz' (glory), the panels divided by vertical ribs, repaired breaks - 6 7/8in. (17.6cm.) diam.
