Two cobalt blue and lustre painted star tiles, Kashan, Iran, 14th Century
each an eight-pointed star, one painted in blue, gold and turquoise with symmetrical design of a central pine tree in turquoise with confronting birds on either side, and a small pond with a turquoise fish beyond the treee, with nasksh inscription around the border; the other tile painted in blue, gold, white and turquoise with central image of a floral spray within an octagon, with nasksh inscription around the border; one bowl with slight repainting, but intact, the other restored to one side - 8in. (20.5 cm.) diam. (2)
