A Tunisian pottery dish, North Africa, 19th Century
of shallow rounded form with sloping rim on short foot, painted in blue, brown, green and yellow, the interior with the central yellow quadruped enclosed in a large roundel with a band of alternating blue and green dot patterns, the cavetto issuing eight roundels intertwined by blue dots, containing stylised flowerheads, the rim with lobed and leaf patterns, the exterior with a band of floral sprays, wave pattern alongside the rim, inscribed both on underside and under foot - 13¾in. (34.5cm.) diam.
