A late 18th-Century German wood and polychrome paper diptych dial,
in the style of David Beringer, the polychrome paper with foliate and decorative motifs on three surfaces, three fixing catches -- 9.8cm. (3 7/8in.) wide: Leaf Ia: two columns of twenty-five latitudes of American and Continental towns and cities; Leaf I: eleven string gnomon points for latitudes between 36° and 56°, only two drilled through, and a vertical dial for hours VII-VII-V with quarter-hour subdivisions; Leaf IIa: horizontal dial with four hour scales for 40°, 45°, 50° and 58° and glazed compass with blued-steel needle and eight points
