A 19th-Century English 9-inch diameter terrestrial table globe,
NEWTON'S NEW TERRESTRIAL GLOBE according to the most recent DISCOVERIES 1839 Manufactured by Newton Son & Berry, 66, Chancery Lane, LONDON, made up of two sets of twelve hand-coloured engraved spilt gores, with Meridian of London and graduated equatorial, ecliptic and meridian at 30°W, various explorers' tracks with notes and dates and trade winds, the continents showing national boundaries, cities and towns, rivers, lakes, deserts, mountains in pictorial relief and caravan routes, mounted in an unengraved brass meridian half circle atop a mahogany baluster column and circular base -- 38cm. (15in.) high
