With gilt-finished verge movement, chain fusée, finely pierced and engraved balance cock and foot, the white enamel dial with Roman numerals, pierced gold hands, the gold case with chased and engraved scroll decorated band, the crystalline quartz back encrusted with a varicoloured hardstone floral decoration, the 18K gold châtelaine similarly decorated and with a blank seal and hardstone key, movement signed

The present watch is a fine example of an early movement fitted into an 18th century style watch case and châtelaine in the manner of F.L. Hoffmann of Dresden or Berlin, a goldsmith renowned for his fine hardstone decorated nécessaires, snuff and gold boxes.
