Lot Essay

In a letter dated July 30th 1956 Barnsley comments to the client:
"I am returning the tracing of headboards to the divans, because if we do use the leather panels, with tooled decoration, I think that these designs will develop well. We should, of course, make full size templates or cartoons before going further, and these I should send to you later on".

The invoice for the cheval mirror, dated June 1961, describes it as having been made: "in a sandwich construction with the sycamore between the blackbean to strength [sic] and decoration". The invoice is for £102.
