Lot Essay

The present work was in the collection of F.R.S. Yorke, an important English Modernist architect. Yorke achieved early renown with his book, The Modern House published in 1934, which introduced the English to continental Modernism and gave Yorke a grasp of what was going on abroad which was far in advance of many of his contemporaries.
