Lot Essay

Barrett comments: 'In dramatic photographs of fountains and statuary at night, Bing used solarization to confer a dream-like atmosphere in which movements appear phantasmic, outlined with a mysterious aura of black line...jets of water become explosions of light, brilliant in a monotonous grey plane, and surrounded by a parabola of floating light.' (Bing: Three Decades, p.25)
