A PAIR OF HUANGHUALI YOKEBACK SIDECHAIRS, DENGGUAYI
17TH/18TH CENTURY
The curving toprail of each with backward-projecting ends, supported on slightly curving stiles continuing to the back legs, the bowed backsplat carved with a beaded cartouche enclosing a pair of confronted dragons, the rectangular frame enclosing the soft-mat seat, above legs joined in front with a beaded apron delicately carved with scrolling tendrils, the footrest supported by a plain, narrow apron, the back and sides with stepped stretchers
