With central conical flower vase above a circular dish supported by a bulbous vase, on a spreading plinth flanked by two putti, the base with twin scalloped basins and dolphin and Neptune-mask feet, stamped WMF and also struck B, I/O, and as
27½ in. (70 cm.) high

Lot Essay

This design is depicted in WMF's 1906 British catalogue, but may have been available in Germany earlier. In the catalogue, the model is described under number 226 as: "Centrepiece, silver plated, I/O quality, "Old Silver" finish, shells gilt inside, richly cut crystal "Z" glasses, 350/- each. If finished bright, 360/- each" (see Art Nouveau, Domestic metalwork from Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik, The English Catalogue 1906, Antique Collector's Club, 1988, p. 80).

Another example sold these rooms 20 April 2006, lot 206 ($14,400).
