A set of five Arita Namban saucers and a 'black ship' bowl
18th and 19th Century
The saucer enamelled with a central roundel enclosing the 'VOC A' monogram, encircled by a radiating scene of three Dutchmen in a continuous Chinese fenced garden, one wearing a cape and watching another holding a parrot, the reverse with a karakusa scroll in underglaze-blue, 12 cm. diam.; and an Imari 'black ship' bowl, decorated with three-masters alternated by pairs of standing Dutchmen, eight character mark to the base Gorodayu Go Shonzui zo, two fine hairline cracks, 20 cm. diam.
