A longquan celadon baluster jar and cover
Yuan dynasty
The heavily potted squat baluster body with plugged base, carved in relief with a wide register of foliate scrollwork bearing six peony blooms above a band of upright lappets, covered with a glaze of sea-green colour stopping above the orange-burnt tapering foot and on top of the rim, the cover with undulating scalloped edges, encircled by a similar foliate scroll, surmounted by a curling stem knop, the underside with an unglazed band
