In the Gothic revival style, fitted with a long frieze drawer in the tracery carved frieze, on dual stylised over lapping leaf end supports, platform and castors, bearing a label 'C.J.FREEMAN, UPHOLDER, DECORATOR, AND UNDERTAKER, CABINET AND CHAIR MANUFACTURER, 10, LONDON STREET, NORWICH', one finial missing

Lot Essay

The name of Freeman is associated with London Road Norwich from the end of the 18th Century and C.J.Freeman working towards the end of the 19th century is probably a continuation of that same family lineage.The Dictionary of English Furniture Makers 1660-1840, Leeds,1986.
