A SIMULATED BURR WALNUT AND DECORATED PEDESTAL DESK
BY ROY GRIFFITHS, WISBECH, LAST QUARTER 20TH CENTURY
Painted with ivory lines and decorated with flowering foliate stems, with a brown tooled leather lined top,with three frieze drawers,with three drawers to each pedestal with an oval decorated panel to the reverse,on plinth bases, the carcass and drawers repeatedly stamped 'G', those on the left pedestal stamped 'E'.
30½in. (77.5cm.) high, 52½in. (133.5cm.) wide, 22½in. (57cm.) deep

Lot Essay

The desk was purchased by the present owner from Roy Griffiths, a Slade trained designer and Cabinet Maker who worked from workshops called Cross Keys Joinery, near Wisbech and was painted by Ray Newall.
