IN 1849 THE 'STAUNTON' PLAYING SET WAS FIRST REGISTERED AND PRODUCED BY JOHN JACQUES, HATTON GARDEN, AND SOLD AT THE SHOP OF WILLIAM LEUCHARS OF PICCADILLY. A SET WITH PRINTED DIAMOND REGISTRATION MARKS FOR 1849 WAS SOLD IN THESE ROOMS, 22 NOVEMBER 2005, LOT 526.
