A similar design for garden furniture, incorporating fern leaves on the seatback and side supports under the the pierce-scrolled seat, manufactured by the Coalbrookdale Company, England in 1858 is illustrated in Georg Himmelheber's Cast-Iron Furniture: And All Other Forms of Iron Furniture, Munich, 1996, fig. 150.
