'The Reed house is the dream made real of the American patrician world of the 1930's. It's one of the only projects I may ever see that brings to life the 30's Georgian interiors you see in Fred Astaire and Preston Sturges movies, which were grand but full of style and probably much more beautiful than the way rich people lived in real life. So beautiful it has to be a fantasy. But the Reed house was as good as that. It was about glamour and correctness in equal measure.'
