Lot Essay

Frances Elkins purchased a number of pieces from the firm belonging to her friend, the notable designer Syrie Maugham (d. 1955). Another recorded purchase was the Georgian leather wing chair acquired on behalf of Mrs. Evelyn Marshall Field for her Muttontown, New York home (S. M. Salny, Frances Elkins: Interior Design, pp. 88-89).
