Fluted-urn form, convertible to a wine cooler, with shell and scroll handles with foliate terminals, supported on a high shaped-square base rising from four scroll feet accented with flowers, each side with applied cartouche of cornucopia and garland surmounted by farmer's implements, the first engraved with a presentation inscription, Dem M.G. Verien/Germania/von Newark, N.J./gewidmet von/Beethoven-Maenner-Chor/New York, N.Y., the second with a bust of Ludwig von Beethoven, the third with the dates 1865-1890, and the fourth with an allegorical figure, the urn fitted with an interior bottle sleeve and a cone form flower holder with fluted everted rim, marked on base and urn and with French control marks
