Finement peintes, à l'intérieur d'un médaillon central représentant Shoulao assis sur un rocher à l'ombre d'un pin, lisant un rouleau, un disciple préparant l'encens à ses côtés, l'aile ornée des huit emblèmes bouddhiques supportés par un rinceau feuillagé, le revers agrémenté d'une frise continue représentant les huit Immortels dans un paysage lacustre, la base émaillée blanche

Lot Essay

A similar pair of dishes, was included in the Hong Kong O. C. S. Exhibition of Ch'ing Polychrome Porcelain, 1977, illustrated in the Catalogue, no. 63.
An identical pair of dishes with an unusual iron-red crane roundel on the base, are included in the Rogers Fund and illustrated in S. Valenstein, The World's Great Collections, Oriental Ceramics, Vol 11, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, Tokyo, New York and San Francisco, 1982, no. 143 ; see also a pair from the Paul and Helen Bernat Collection, sold twice at Sotheby's Hong Kong, 15 November 1988, lot 12, and again, 13 November 1990, lot 330 ; a single dish from Sir Harry Garner Collection was sold in our Hong Kong Rooms, 28 November 2005, lot 1335 ; another single dish, dated Yongzheng period, is illustrated in Porcelains in Polychrome and Contrasting Colours, The Complete Collection of Treasures of the Palace Museum, Hong Kong, 1999, pl. 219
