PRESENTATION COPY, inscribed 'To Ottoline Cavendish Bentinck from Vernon March 1901'. In her memoirs, Morrell recalled visits to Florentine villas with Vernon Lee in 1898-1899: 'I enjoyed these drives immensely, for she was extremely active in mind, and imparted her intellect and knowledge very well' (Early Memoirs, p.110).
