FIRST ENGLISH EDITION, FIRST BINDING, INSCRIBED TO SASSOON BY EDWARD MARSH, THE EDITOR, a few days before publication on 8 March 1916. Sassoon's notes on the rear free endpaper are a series of adjectives describing light and colour; starting as words and short phrases, the descriptive terms become more extended as the notes progress.
