The Ben Rinnes was built by Hall, Russell in 1901 for the North British Steam Co. Ltd. Having been sold several times and worked as a boom defence vessel during the war she was finally lost in March 1928 having run ashore in fog; her crew were reported safe but no account of their rescue can be found.
