The iron barque Anglo-Norman was built for the Australian wool trade by Archibald Russell at Port Glasgow in 1876. Owned by Frost, Cook & Co. of London, she was registered at 864 tons gross (822 net) and measured 193 feet in length with a 32 foot beam. Her best recorded passage was the journey home from Sydney in 1883 when she docked in London on New Year's Day 1884 after 89 days at sea, almost the fastest run of the year. Sold to Norwegian owners in 1899, she was still afloat and trading in 1914.
