Lot Essay

The fully-rigged ship Daniel Rankin was built on the Clyde at Dumbarton in 1858 and soon settled into the India Trade under Captain Hartnell, but disappears from the record in the 1870s, possibly wrecked, but more likely sold to new owners and renamed.
