GOETHE, Johann Wolfgang von (1749-1832). Letter signed ('ergebenst J.W. v. Goethe') to the banker Julius Elkan, Weimar, 20 July 1827, requesting him to pay the sum of 50 Prussian Thalers to Mr Reinhardt, maker of casts and impressions in Berlin, with reimbursement to follow, one page, 4to, integral address panel with impression of Goethe's signet seal on red wax. Provenance: Maggs Bros, 1926, no. 2128; Henrici CXXV, 24/25 November 1927, 85 marks.
